The volume is one of the cross section properties that is calculated by ShapeDesigner Pro software. See the full list of cross section properties calculated by ShapeDesigner Pro. Go to the ShapeDesigner product page.
Calculating the volume for complex shapes is simplified by using solid body analysis. For example, it is possible to compute the volume of an axisymetric body by specifying the section and axis. Axisymmetric analysis is performed by rotating the section about the y-axis. In this type of analysis, the thicknesses of shapes are ignored. Shape Designer makes sure all section x coordinates are greater than 0.0. see the mass property for a description on how to select solid analysis.
